On 13 June 2025, Crucible Lusaka hosted a special event to mark the final presentations of our leadership project in partnership with the Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Society of Zambia (WECSZ).

The challenge put to our students was a bold one:

“How can WECSZ improve the socio-economic viability of its facility at Venter Valley?”

Over several weeks, students carried out research, visited the site, and developed their ideas. Their proposals, presented to an audience of WECSZ staff, parents, teachers, and community partners, were confident, creative, and deeply rooted in the needs of both the environment and the community.

Solutions ranged from eco-tourism initiatives to education outreach programmes and income-generating ideas, each demonstrating the ability to think critically and propose realistic strategies.

The impact was immediate. WECSZ is now using the students’ work as the foundation for a new fundraising proposal to support the development of Venter Valley.

This project proved that Crucible students are not just preparing for the future, they are already contributing to it. Along the way, they strengthened vital skills in leadership, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.

At Crucible, we believe education is about more than academics, it’s about leadership, collaboration, and character. Follow our publication to stay updated on how our students are preparing to become pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.
