On Saturday 25 October, Crucible Lusaka welcomed more than fifty parents to the school for a warm and collaborative open day, a chance to reflect on student progress, strengthen our partnership with families, and celebrate the spirit of our mission: to prepare pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.

The event opened with the inaugural face-to-face meeting of the Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC), where the executive committee introduced themselves and the PTC constitution was formally agreed. This marks an important step in building a strong parent voice and ensuring open collaboration between families and the school community.

Teachers shared updates on students’ academic growth as they continue their journey towards Cambridge International A levels. Presentations highlighted the increasing recognition of these qualifications across Africa, their role in preparing students for admission to leading global universities, and how they align with Zambia’s wider education development goals.

Parents also engaged in a discussion of the 2026 academic calendar, including new adjustments to exam and holiday timings designed to give students more focused time for study. The day concluded with a vibrant student performance, a play inspired by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, exploring learning and enlightenment and an original song celebrating pride in being Zambian and African.

Throughout the day, the shared commitment between parents, teachers and students was evident. The open day reflected Crucible Lusaka’s belief that rigorous learning, creativity and community partnership together form the foundation for developing Zambia’s next generation of leaders.

At Crucible, we believe education is about more than academics, it’s about leadership, collaboration, and character. Follow our publication to stay updated on how our students are preparing to become pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.
