On 4 March 2026, Crucible Lusaka hosted its Founders Scholarship Presentation Event, welcoming 29 new students and their families to the school community. The event marked a significant milestone, as each student was awarded a full Founders Scholarship, covering tuition, accommodation and all learning materials for the duration of their time at Crucible Lusaka.
The ceremony, hosted by students Mapalo and Niven, brought together parents, staff and school leadership, including Founder Mr George Bevis and Board Chair Mrs Yande S. Mwenye.
The scholarships were awarded following a highly competitive selection process, with over 480 applications received from across Zambia. With the addition of this new cohort, Crucible Lusaka now proudly represents students from all ten provinces.

In his address, Principal Mr Vaughan Lewis reminded students that a place at Crucible Lusaka represents both opportunity and responsibility. A scholarship, he noted, reflects “an expectation that talent will be matched by effort, that privilege will be matched by contribution, and that ambition will be matched by integrity.”
Board Chair Mrs Mwenye encouraged students to embrace this journey not only as a personal opportunity, but as a chance to contribute to the future of the country.

Founder Mr George Bevis spoke about the importance of purpose and ambition, emphasising that countries prosper when talented individuals make thoughtful, impactful decisions. He encouraged students to see themselves not only as learners, but as future leaders capable of shaping Zambia’s development.

Reflecting this ambition, student host Mapalo shared her aspiration to one day become Zambia’s first female president, a reminder of the bold vision already present within the cohort.

Following the ceremony, parents toured the school and spent time meeting one another, building connections that will support students throughout their journey. The event was marked by a strong sense of pride and excitement, reflecting a shared belief in the potential of these students.
As Crucible Lusaka continues to grow, the Founders Scholarship remains central to its mission: identifying and supporting talented young people to become pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.
