From 11 to 15 August, the National Science Centre in Lusaka came alive as over 700 students from across Zambia gathered for the 2025 National JETS Fair. This annual celebration of science, technology, and innovation showcased the creativity and determination of young people tackling some of Zambia’s most pressing challenges. Students, teachers, and parents filled the venue alongside senior government leaders, including the Minister of Education and the Minister of Technology and Science.
Crucible Lusaka was proud to sponsor this year’s Fair, providing trophies for winning participants and joining the closing ceremony to recognise the remarkable talent on display. Our principal, Vaughan Lewis, gave an address, affirming Crucible Lusaka’s mission to prepare ambitious students to become pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia. He highlighted how the Fair’s spirit of problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration echoes the very competencies Crucible seeks to nurture.
The closing ceremony also featured one of our own students, Jonas, who took part in the JETS Fair in 2024 and was recognised as an award-winning innovator. Inspired by that experience, Jonas applied to Crucible Lusaka and is now thriving as part of our first student cohort. In his speech, he shared how presenting his clean energy project at JETS sparked his journey, and how the scholarship he received at Crucible has allowed him to pursue his passion for innovation and leadership without financial barriers.

They provide vital opportunities for young people to test ideas, showcase solutions, and discover pathways to further education and leadership.
