On 23 February, Crucible Lusaka welcomed a new cohort of students who represent all ten provinces of Zambia. Arriving with excitement and anticipation, the students were greeted by staff and senior students in a short arrival ceremony held in the school hall, marking the beginning of an important new chapter for both the new cohort and the wider school community.

The first week began with orientation activities followed by a three-day leadership camp at the Creed School of Leadership. The programme was designed to help students settle into school life while introducing them to the mission and values of Crucible Lusaka. Through practical activities and discussions, students explored themes of teamwork, resilience and integrity while beginning to build friendships.

During a special assembly to formally welcome the new students, Principal Mr Vaughan Lewis encouraged students to embrace the opportunities ahead. He reminded them that their time at Crucible Lusaka is a chance to learn deeply, grow in confidence and build meaningful friendships, urging them always to ask questions and to approach challenges with curiosity and action.

Students have already spoken about the supportive atmosphere of the school community. “I was nervous at first,” said Wanzya, a member of the new cohort, “but the teachers, house parents and senior students made us feel welcome straight away. It helped me settle in quickly.”

Teachers and boarding staff report that the new students are adjusting well and actively participating in school life. With their energy, curiosity and commitment to learning, the newest members of the Crucible Lusaka community are already contributing to the vibrant academic environment that defines the school and supports its mission of developing pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.

At Crucible, we believe education is about more than academics, it’s about leadership, collaboration, and character. Follow our publication to stay updated on how our students are preparing to become pioneering leaders for a prosperous Zambia.
